The future is community-owned and community-financed

We believe land and infrastructure should be stewarded by communities, not profit-seeking private entities. Community finance makes it possible.

We’re building Canada’s community finance ecosystem

Tapestry’s first threads began in one project—a community-owned wind turbine in downtown Toronto—and spun into helping organizations across Canada raise capital from everyday impact investors. Today, we’re weaving a full Tapestry of direct support and advocacy for a fairer economic system.

We provide guidance and administrative services directly to charities, nonprofits, and cooperatives seeking to raise values-aligned capital using the community bond model.

Tapestry Community Capital

We help charities, nonprofits, and co-ops raise capital using the community bond model. By providing consulting services—sharing best practices and guidance for a successful raise—and back-end bond administration, we’re proud to help bring community-owned projects to life across Canada.

Tapestry has supported community bond issuers to raise $150 million dollars and return $22.7 million in interest to community impact investors. Next up, mainstreaming the model—we want every community in Canada to have access to community bonds.

Weave Community Capital Fund

Weave Community Capital Fund offers institutional and accredited investors Canada’s first diversified portfolio of loans to issuers of community bonds, crowding in everyday retail investors in the process.

Founded by the team behind Tapestry Community Capital, Weave is meant to open a new source of capital for community bond issuers. Many institutional investors require larger minimum investments than community bonds can offer, but they still want to participate and support community-led projects. Weave offers a solution. By pooling large investments and distributing the capital across projects, we’re maximizing impact and reach.

Canadian Coalition for Community Capital

The Canadian Coalition for Community Capital is a five-year advocacy initiative and network that aims to make it easier for everyday Canadians to invest in the future of their communities. We support tools like community bonds and co-op shares that allow people to put their money into projects and organizations they care about—financing affordable housing, clean energy, local businesses and more.

Our network brings together community bond issuers, cooperatives, investment platforms, and funds working to build strong, local economies. We believe community investment is a powerful way to create lasting social, environmental and economic impact across Canada.
