There\u2019s no shortage of interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Selon le <\/span>2025 RIA Investor Opinion Survey<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, <\/span>67% of Canadians<\/b> say they\u2019re interested in responsible investing. And yet, only <\/span>28% actually own responsible investments<\/b> \u2013\u00a0down from 33% two years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, what gives?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If most Canadians are interested, why aren\u2019t they acting on it? Why is there such a gap between interest and action \u2013 and how do we close it?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t

Values matter \u2013 but performance still drives decisions.<\/span><\/h2>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

When we surveyed our own community bondholders<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u2013\u00a0people who had already invested in affordable housing \u2013\u00a0their top motivation was creating positive social and environmental impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These are deeply values-driven investors. But here\u2019s what stood out: <\/span>nearly half said they\u2019d invest more if returns were higher.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

This aligns with what we saw in the RIA survey. Canadians were asked how important various factors are when deciding whether to include responsible investments into their portfolio. The results?<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. 92% said performance and opportunity are <\/span>very<\/span><\/i> or <\/span>somewhat important<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. 89% said risk reduction is <\/span>very<\/span><\/i> or <\/span>somewhat important\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n
  3. 79% said personal values is <\/span>very<\/span><\/i> or <\/span>somewhat important\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The takeaway?<\/b> Values bring people in, but performance helps them stay.
    \n<\/span>The good news?<\/b> Community bonds can offer both: steady financial returns and direct, local impact. <\/span><\/p>\n

    If 67% of Canadians are interested in responsible investing, why aren\u2019t more people doing it?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    One big reason: <\/span>they don\u2019t know where to start.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

    In fact, <\/span>66% of Canadians say they know little or nothing<\/b> about responsible investing. Read that sentence again \u2013 <\/span>little or nothing<\/span><\/i>!<\/span><\/p>\n

    And it\u2019s not just a lack of awareness about available options. It\u2019s also a lack of trust. Many investors aren\u2019t sure where their money is going or whether it\u2019s making a real difference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    That\u2019s partly because of greenwashing, which remains the top deterrent for responsible investing. Vague claims, buzzwords, and slick marketing have made people skeptical \u2013\u00a0and understandably so.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    In our Community Bondholders Survey<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, the message was loud and clear: People want <\/span>transparency<\/b>. They want <\/span>impact updates<\/b>. And they want to know, <\/span>in plain, honest language,<\/b> what their money is doing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The demand is there. The education and clarity are not.<\/span><\/p>\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t
