We\u2019re delighted to welcome Filsan Farah (she\/her) as the Fund Manager for the Weave Community Capital Fund<\/a><\/span><\/strong> \u2013 a first-of-its-kind private credit fund focused on supporting community bond issuers across Canada.<\/span>\"Filsan<\/p>\n

Based in London, Ontario, Filsan brings a powerful mix of lived experience, critical thinking, and deep technical expertise to this work. Her career spans social finance, migration studies, international development, and grassroots community organizing. Filsan\u2019s work has always centred on equity, inclusion, and finding ways to support communities in accessing the resources they need to thrive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before joining Weave, Filsan worked at VERGE Capital where she supported social enterprises and community infrastructure projects across Southwestern Ontario, including affordable housing, nature conservation, community hubs, and more. Her journey also includes working with international development organizations, completing a master\u2019s degree in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration, and currently pursuing a Master\u2019s in Business Administration through Queen Mary University of London. Across it all, Filsan brings years of experience thinking about how capital can move in ways that are more equitable, more collaborative, and more rooted in community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cWhat excites me most is the potential of this work. Not just supporting individual campaigns, but helping build a national fund that moves capital more equitably into communities. Even though we\u2019re separated geographically, Weave can play a role in bringing communities together and facilitating deeper connections.”\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Filsan is especially energized by the chance to be part of something new. \u201cThere\u2019s something powerful about joining at the very beginning,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s a startup feel. We\u2019re not just shaping a fund, but building relationships, learning together, and laying the foundation for something that hasn\u2019t existed before.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outside of work, Filsan is an explorer at heart. She\u2019s passionate about decentralized systems and the growth of Web 3.0, loves to read (everything from classic literature to poetry and academic theory on decolonization), and enjoys film, travel, and spending time with loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n
